Light Up A Smile

Rotaract Club of S.S.M.R.V. College organized Light Up a Smile on 24th October 2025 at Anatha Shishu Sevashrama, a beautiful Deepawali initiative that captured the essence of compassion, creativity, and joy. The event aimed to celebrate the spirit of the festival not just through lights and decorations, but through thoughtful interaction and shared happiness. This project focused on bringing smiles to the faces of children by engaging them in a delightful diya-painting activity that blended art, imagination, and emotion. As the event began, Rotaractors greeted the children with enthusiasm and warmth. The rooms were neatly arranged with plain diyas, brushes, water cups, and vibrant paint set ready to be turned into little works of art. The cheerful atmosphere quickly filled with laughter, curiosity, and excitement as the children began exploring colour combinations and designs. Some painted intricate floral patterns, while others created bright geometric shapes or simple splashes of joyful colour. Each diya turned into a symbol of individuality, creativity, and hope. The volunteers moved among the children, offering friendly conversation, guidance, and encouragement. It was heartwarming to see how easily the barriers melted away as everyone engaged in painting and sharing stories. What started as a creative task soon became a shared experience filled with care and kindness. The glow of the diyas on the tables mirrored the joy and innocence in the children’s eyes, making the moment truly special. By the end of the session, the room was filled with rows of colourfully painted diyas - a mosaic of imagination and emotion. The Rotaractors left with a feeling of contentment, realizing how meaningful a few hours of attention and love could be. Light Up a Smile beautifully reflected the true essence of Deepawali: spreading light not only through lamps but through compassion, creativity, and connection.
