In a heartening display of creativity, community spirit, and social responsibility, the enthusiastic rotaractors of the Rotaract Club of Indian Institute of Fashion Technology (IIFT) had organized a transformative workshop titled "Kalakrithi - The Work of Art." This workshop was held at Dasarahalli Government High School on the 16th and 18th of November 2023 in Cubbon park, Bangalore brought together young minds from diverse backgrounds for a unique artistic endeavor.The highlight of the event was the involvement of around 80 students from Dasarahalli Government High School who, under the guidance of the Rotaract Club members, hand-painted tote bags. These beautifully adorned bags not only showcased the artistic talents of the government school children but also served a noble cause. Tote bags are known for their practicality, as they are often spacious, easy to carry, and come in a variety of styles and designs. The ideology behind this event was to teach the government kids about fabric painting and these tote bags being in trend, brought us an good response onto the same The total volunteer hours dedicates for this project was 910 hours. This event was supported by Rotaract District 3191 under community service initiative. The culmination of the project took place at Cubbon Park, where the hand-painted tote bags were put up for sale. The community response was overwhelming, and the funds generated from this initiative are earmarked for a significant contribution to Dasarahalli Government High School. The Rotaract Club of IIFT has pledged to utilize the proceeds to provide the school with a much-needed color printer and sports equipment, enhancing the educational environment for the students.What makes this initiative even more commendable is the collaborative effort that went into making it a reality. A total of 70 rotaractors from seven different Rotaract clubs joined hands in this endeavor. The participating clubs included the Rotaract Club of BIT, Rotaract Club of SBMJEC, Rotaract Club of Bishop Cottons, Rotaract Club of Koramangala, Rotaract Club of HSR, Rotaract Club of Vijayanagar, and Rotaract Club of Bangalore East, all working under the umbrella of Rotaract District 3191.The driving force behind this successful event is none other than Rtr. Barkha Jain, the President, Deeksha N, the Secretary, Prajwal Gowda, the project chair, Namana R, Co-project chair of the Rotaract Club of IIFT. The leadership and commitment to community service have played a pivotal role in orchestrating this collaborative effort, bringing together Rotaract clubs from various institutions to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the government school children in Dasarahalli.The "Kalakrithi - The Work of Art" workshop stood as a shining example of how the youth, through artistic expression and community collaboration, can bring positive change to the lives of those less privileged. It not only nurtured creativity but also instilled a sense of social responsibility and empathy among the participants.
