Our first year long flagship PDE project, "Project sparsh" 🫳🏻 The Rotaract Club of Atria .T. organized an impactful session under their "Sparsh" initiative, led by Professor Priyanka R. The session was conducted at the Sumangali Seva Ashrama and aimed to educate children belonging to the age group of classes 2 to 8 about the sensitive topic of good and bad touch, equipping them with essential knowledge to tackle this issue.Professor Priyanka R, a seasoned educator, biology professor and a mother of 2 girls, led the session with utmost care and sensitivity. She began by creating a warm and welcoming environment where the children felt comfortable to express themselves. Through engaging visual aids, relatable examples, and age-appropriate language, she addressed the crucial subject of distinguishing between good and bad touch. The session focused on empowering the young minds with the ability to recognize inappropriate touches and understand the importance of personal boundaries. Professor Priyanka emphasized that children should never feel ashamed to discuss these matters with their trusted adults, be it parents, teachers, or guardians. The interactive nature of the session encouraged active participation from the children. They were encouraged to ask questions, share their thoughts, and clarify doubts, fostering an open and safe space for learning. Practical scenarios were discussed, enabling the students to understand how to respond assertively if they ever encounter uncomfortable situations.Professor Priyanka also discussed the concept of consent, teaching the children that their feelings and comfort matter and they have the right to say "no" to any touch that makes them uncomfortable. Through age-appropriate stories and real-life examples, she instilled confidence in the children to speak up and seek help if needed. The "Sparsh" initiative by the Rotaract Club of Atria I.T.,led by Professor Priyanka R, proved to be a significant step in spreading awareness about personal safety among young children. By addressing this sensitive issue in a respectful and informative manner, the session empowered these children with knowledge and tools to protect themselves and seek help when necessary, contributing to their overall well-being and safety.
