The objective of this event was to create DIY containers using plastic piggy banks and plastic bottles to store water and grains for birds. The event aimed to promote environmental sustainability and create a positive impact on local wildlife. Event Execution: Upon arrival, volunteers were promptly provided with the necessary materials for the DIY activity. The materials included plastic piggy banks, plastic bottles, and other required tools. To guide the volunteers, an instructional session was conducted where they were shown a YouTube video demonstrating how to create the DIY containers. This approach ensured that all participants had a clear understanding of the task at hand and could execute it effectively. The DIY session lasted for about 2 to 2.5 hours, during which volunteers actively engaged in crafting the bird containers. The hands-on experience not only fostered creativity but also instilled a sense of responsibility towards wildlife conservation. Implementation and Impact: After completing the DIY containers, the participants, along with the organizing team, embarked on a tour around the college campus. They strategically placed the containers filled with water and grains in areas frequented by birds. It was emphasized that the water and grains in these containers would be refilled on a weekly basis to ensure continuous support to the avian population. Conclusion: The Birdie Bistros DIY event organized by the SPAW Wing of Rotaract Club at BMSCE was a successful initiative aimed at promoting environmental awareness and wildlife conservation. Through practical engagement and sustainable practices, the event contributed positively to the local ecosystem and encouraged responsible stewardship of resources.
