BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The "Ankuram - Nurturing Young Minds" sessions aimed to introduce effective study techniques and scholarship information to students in government or government-aided schools. EVENT DESCRIPTION: On July 15th, 16th, and 18th, the Rotaract Club of BMS College of Engineering, under the iTeach initiative, conducted the "Ankuram - Nurturing Young Minds" event. Each session lasted 1 hour and 30 minutes. The sessions focused on teaching mnemonic, linking, judicious, and RRR techniques, and provided information about scholarships for students from 5th to 10th grade. SCHOOLS AND PARTICIPATION: The sessions were conducted in 8 different schools, benefiting 1000 students through 14 sessions over three days. The schools involved were: SGPTA School Vinayaka School SPYSS Sri Ganapati Vidya Mandir Vivekananda School VET School Corporation Girls High School Kanaka High School STUDY TECHNIQUES: Mnemonic Method: Students created funny sentences from the starting letters of words in a list to aid memorization, helping them remember key concepts from their textbooks. Linking Method: Useful for theory-based subjects, this method involves creating a funny story by linking important keywords from each paragraph of a chapter, aiding in the retention of theoretical content. Judicious Method: This approach involves answering why, where, when, whom, and how questions to thoroughly understand a concept. Students engaged critically with their study material. RRR (Read, Recite, and Recall) Technique: This technique involves reading material, reciting it, and then recalling key points, reinforcing memory. Students practiced this to enhance their retention. SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION: The sessions provided valuable information about various scholarships available for students from 5th to 10th grade, including MOMA (Ministry of Minority Affairs), NTSE (National Talent Search Examination), SSP (State Scholarship Portal), and NMCMS (National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship). Informative posters and materials guided students on the application process and eligibility criteria. SPECIAL HIGHLIGHTS: Interactive Learning: Engaging sessions with hands-on activities and discussions that enhanced student participation. Visual Aids: Posters illustrating the study techniques and scholarship information for better understanding. Practical Implementation: Students were encouraged to immediately apply and explain the concepts they learned, which helped build their confidence and motivation to study more. IMPACT ON ATTENDEES: Enhanced Learning: Students learned new study techniques that improved their learning efficiency. Scholarship Awareness: Students gained valuable information about available scholarships and how to apply. Engagement: Interactive sessions kept students engaged and made learning enjoyable.
