"DanceShala" was an enriching 10-day dance workshop designed to empower the children of Samartha Girls Home through the art of dance. Held from the 7th to the 17th of August 2024, the workshop was facilitated by the community service core team of the Rotaract Club of Mount Carmel College. 25 enthusiastic participants, aged between 8 and 14, engaged in this dynamic experience where they learned and practiced a dance routine meticulously choreographed by the team members. The workshop aimed at much more than just teaching dance; it was about fostering skill development, confidence building, and creative expression among the children. Each session was structured to encourage teamwork and collaboration, allowing the kids to connect with one another while discovering the joy of movement. DanceShala also served as a platform for cultural enrichment, where the children were introduced to various dance forms, broadening their horizons and deepening their appreciation for the arts. The culmination of DanceShala was a memorable stage performance during Our installation ceremony "Navodaya", where the children showcased their talents in front of a large audience. The pride and joy on their faces as they performed were a testament to the workshop’s success. The impact of DanceShala was evident in the children’s newfound confidence, enhanced creativity, and strengthened teamwork skills, making this project a significant and cherished part of their developmental journey.
