On August 15th, 2024, the Rotaract Club of Koramangala embarked on a heartwarming community service initiative, "Swathandra Saakshigalu," to celebrate India's 78th Independence Day with the specially-abled residents of FMR Asha Nikethan in Koramangala. This poignant event aimed to spread joy, positivity, and inclusivity among the residents, acknowledging their valuable contributions to society. Fourteen dedicated volunteers from the Rotaract Club devoted three hours of their time to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the specially-abled individuals. The event commenced with a warm introduction session, allowing participants to connect and understand each other's stories. The residents shared their cherished memories of India's independence, emphasizing the significance of appreciating the freedom we enjoy today. This thought-provoking discussion set the tone for a memorable afternoon. Through a creative drawing session, participants showcased their artistic skills, while team-based games brought forth laughter and camaraderie. Members generously donated food items and fruits, demonstrating their commitment to supporting the residents' well-being. The event culminated in a tour of the facility, highlighting the impressive skills of the specially-abled residents, who crafted beautiful candles and clothing. This showcase served as a testament to their potential and creativity. Our members also purchased the hand-made art work (candles and napkins) from them. Project Chairs Rtr. Prathima and Rtr. Ragesh led this remarkable initiative, embodying the Rotaract Club of Koramangala's dedication to community service and inclusivity. This event will be etched in the hearts of all participants, serving as a reminder of the power of compassion and connection.
