On September 24th, 2024, the Rotaract Club of Banashankari, in partnership with the Rotaract Club of Jyoti Nivas College, hosted an enriching session titled "Healing Oneself", centered around mental health and emotional well-being. The event aimed to equip participants with tools to combat common challenges such as stress and loneliness, offering both psychological insights and practical advice for mental wellness. The session was led by two experts in the field of psychology, Bhavini Shankar and Aysha Ayaz, who drew upon their extensive academic background and professional experiences to guide participants through an engaging and interactive workshop. Both speakers provided a safe and open environment, fostering honest discussions about the pressures faced by many, especially in today’s fast-paced world. The session began with a series of situational questions projected on the screen, prompting participants to reflect on their personal experiences with stress and loneliness. This interactive approach encouraged attendees to engage deeply with the content, helping them feel more connected to the subject matter. Bhavini and Aysha's warm and empathetic delivery set the tone for the workshop, which emphasized the importance of acknowledging mental health struggles. Key strategies shared during the session included: Stress-relief methods: Incorporating yoga, deep breathing exercises, and physical workouts into daily routines to manage stress effectively. Importance of rest: Taking short breaks or naps to rejuvenate the mind and body. Emotional support: Recognizing the significance of emotional vulnerability and seeking support from trusted individuals or communities. Participants were encouraged to share their own challenges, and Bhavini and Aysha provided tailored solutions to help them cope with their specific issues. The speakers also emphasized the importance of a healthy work-life balance, self-compassion, and the need to set realistic expectations for oneself.
