On 16th September, an impactful awareness session on sexual harassment was organized collaboratively by the Rotaract Club of MES College, Rotaract Club of Bangalore Northwest, Rotaract Club of BMS Yelahanka, and Rotaract Club of Bengaluru Nagasandra, in partnership with our, Rotaract Club of Jyoti Nivas College. The session was led by Past President Rtr. Adv. Likitha P. Mahdiker, a renowned advocate and certified trainer in the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) framework. The primary goal of this session was to foster a safe environment for open dialogue, enhance understanding of sexual harassment, and promote proactive measures to combat it. Key objectives included defining sexual harassment and its various forms, elucidating the legal framework provided by the POSH Act, raising awareness about the importance of consent, and providing resources and support systems for victims. The session also encouraged bystander intervention and collective responsibility. Adv. Mahdiker emphasized the significance of recognizing sexual harassment in its multiple forms—verbal, physical, and online. She provided an insightful overview of the legal protections available under the POSH Act, underscoring the critical role organizations play in maintaining safe spaces for all individuals. Participants actively engaged in discussions, sharing their experiences and perspectives, which not only enriched the conversation but also highlighted the urgent need for continued awareness and education on this vital topic. Attendees expressed gratitude for the session, noting that it was both informative and empowering, and many stressed the importance of ongoing dialogue surrounding sexual harassment. Overall, the awareness session successfully achieved its objectives, equipping participants with knowledge and fostering a sense of responsibility within the community. The collaborative efforts of the Rotaract clubs, coupled with Adv. Mahdiker's expertise, underscored a strong commitment to creating safer environments and advocating for proactive measures against harassment.
