The Rotaract Club of SSMRV College, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Jyoti Nivas College, organized a session titled "Vishwas 2.0 – Skillfusion." The event was led by Mr. Sudhir P, who engaged the participants in an insightful discussion on the importance of soft skills in today’s professional environment. The session commenced with an interactive exercise where the speaker asked participants to define themselves using an adjective. This activity saw active participation from the attendees, setting a positive and engaging tone for the rest of the session. Following this, Mr. Sudhir introduced the concept of soft skills, distinguishing them from hard skills. He explained that while hard skills are governed by the left brain and are technical in nature, soft skills are driven by the right brain, dealing with emotional and interpersonal aspects. He emphasized that both types of skills go hand in hand in creating a well-rounded individual. Hard skills, according to the speaker, can be demonstrated through certifications and are often assessed in the technical rounds of an interview. However, soft skills—such as interpersonal abilities, adaptability, and empathy—are evaluated in the final stages of the interview process. Mr. Sudhir stressed that while technology, like ChatGPT, can replace certain hard skills, soft skills such as empathy and emotional intelligence are irreplaceable. He highlighted the fact that continuous practice of soft skills eventually transforms them into habits, which, over time, form a person’s character. Developing a strong character, he noted, is crucial for leaving a lasting impact on the people and teams one interacts with. During the session, Mr. Sudhir outlined the top five skills necessary for success in the current landscape: 1. Emotional intelligence 2. Digital communication skills 3. Collaboration and team-building skills 4. Adaptability and flexibility 5. Problem-solving and decision-making abilities He also provided a step-by-step guide on how individuals can develop these skills. The process begins with self-analysis, followed by evaluating one’s current standing, and then committing to disciplined learning and consistent practice to improve. Mr. Sudhir patiently addressed the participants' queries during the session. The event wrapped up with a vote of thanks, leaving the attendees with valuable insights and practical strategies for enhancing their soft skills.
