Ignite the Minds is a year-long educational initiative by the Professional Development Avenue of Rotaract club of Mount Carmel College. It is aimed at empowering students through interactive learning sessions. Our team conducts 45-minute classes for Class 5 students at Government VK Obaidulla Primary School in Shivajinagar. The sessions are attended by both boys and girls, and our primary focus is on engaging students through a combination of academic and co-curricular activities to foster holistic learning. As part of the "Ignite the Minds" initiative, we continued our educational efforts at Government VK Obaidullah Primary School. For edition 2 of September, we introduced the students to an exciting session about the various states and capitals of India. The children were eager to learn and actively engaged throughout the lesson, exploring India's geography and strengthening their knowledge of the country's administrative divisions. In addition to this, we conducted a class centered on reading and listening skills, which was designed to be both informative and interactive. The students were encouraged to participate in activities that would improve their comprehension and auditory processing abilities, which are critical for their academic growth. The enthusiasm of the students made the class dynamic, as they discovered new ways to approach reading and developed better listening habits. For the volunteers of our avenue, the experience was equally rewarding. Teaching the students not only helped refresh their own knowledge but also allowed them to refine their communication skills through interaction with young learners. This session was a meaningful exchange of learning for both the students and the volunteers, further reinforcing the importance of hands-on education in shaping young minds. Overall, September’s second edition was a success, and we look forward to continuing this journey of learning and growth.
