BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The event ‘Kalikeya Chiguru’ was held at a government school in Malavalli taluk, Mandya district, Karnataka, with the goal of empowering students through engaging activities. The program focused on imparting fundamental science concepts, boosting confidence through a lively talent show, and enhancing creativity through origami workshops. Additionally, students were taught the value of nurturing the environment by participating in a planting activity. Together, these experiences not only fostered scientific understanding but also nurtured personal growth, creativity, and a sense of responsibility toward nature, ultimately inspiring students to embrace their potential and contribute positively to their communities. Through engaging sessions and practical demonstrations of various experiments, students explored fundamental scientific concepts in an interactive manner, Additionally, essential items needed by the school were procured through a successful fundraiser organized at BMS College of Engineering, and these donations were made to enhance the school's educational resources and support the learning environment. EVENT DESCRIPTION: The event began with the icebreaker game of Chinese Whisper, which proved to be a valuable tool for fostering teamwork and emphasizing the significance of clear communication. This engaging activity created a fun and relaxed atmosphere, enabling students to bond and feel more comfortable with one another right from the start. Following the icebreaker, a series of interactive science experiments were conducted to ignite students' curiosity and deepen their understanding of fundamental scientific concepts. Students actively participated in hands-on experiments after engaging demonstrations, followed by thoughtful discussions that reinforced the scientific principles at play. Candle Experiment: A lit candle, placed in colored water and covered with a glass, caused the water level to rise due to air pressure changes. Carbon Dioxide Experiment: Mixing vinegar in a bottle with baking soda in a balloon produced carbon dioxide, inflating the balloon through a chemical reaction. Density of Materials: Oil and rocks were dropped into colored water to illustrate density principles. Water Rocket Experiment: A water-filled bottle launched like a rocket when pressurized air was released. The simple origami craft activity, where students learned to make a butterfly and a bookmark, encouraged patience and attention to detail while making learning fun and engaging. This hands-on experience boosted their confidence and sparked an interest in art and craft. The talent show at the end of the event provided students with a platform to showcase their skills, such as singing and dancing. This not only boosted their confidence but also encouraged self-expression and creativity. By performing in front of their peers, students overcame stage fright. The event fostered a sense of community and appreciation among students as they cheered for each other, promoting mutual respect and admiration. Two plants were sown as part of a hands-on activity to teach students the importance of nurturing plants. As part of the planting activity, students were taught essential plant care techniques, including how to properly water the plants and nurture them. A donation initiative was organized to support the school, providing each child with a package containing a school bag, pouch, stationary packet, biscuit packet, and a fruit drink. Additionally, the school received various educational resources, including cursive writing and Kannada language books, alongside a double-sided black-and-white board for interactive learning. To encourage physical activity and teamwork, games and sports equipment such as a carrom board, mathematical game board, numbers game, and chess board were donated. These contributions foster a supportive and enriching environment for the students’ growth and development. Overall, the event not only enriched students’ scientific knowledge but also cultivated a sense of community, creativity, and appreciation for the environment, leaving a lasting impact on all students. SPECIAL HIGHLIGHTS: Hands-on Learning: Students actively participated in experiments, enhancing their grasp of topics like air pressure, chemical reactions, and density through real-life applications. Collaborative Environment: The event promoted teamwork, with students and teachers engaging in meaningful discussions, further strengthening their scientific knowledge through practical tests and Q&A sessions. Donation of Essential Items: Necessary items were generously donated to the school, including school bags, stationery packets, and educational resources. IMPACT ON ATTENDEES: Building Scientific Foundations: The experiments and interactive discussions fostered critical thinking, encouraging students to explore the "why" behind scientific phenomena. Increased Interest in Science: The fun, practical approach ignited curiosity and made science enjoyable, inspiring students to learn more beyond the classroom. Confidence boost: By encouraging them to showcase their abilities, whether through performing on stage or creating origami crafts.
