The journey of JASHN began with their arrival at 8:15 AM, greeted by a light drizzle that set a beautiful tone for the day. After taking a brief moment to appreciate the scenic atmosphere, they proceeded to the opening ceremony, where they were warmly welcomed by the hosting club, RC of Jai Hind College. The ceremony was well-organized and marked the official beginning of the exchange program. Following the ceremony, the group visited two of Mumbai's iconic landmarks: the Taj Hotel and the Gateway of India. These historical sites provided a fascinating glimpse into the city’s rich heritage, allowing them to admire the architectural beauty and cultural significance of these locations. For lunch, the RC of Jai Hind College treated the visitors to traditional Mumbai cuisine, featuring local delicacies such as Misal Pav and Pav Bhaji. The flavorful dishes offered a true taste of the city’s vibrant street food culture. Post-lunch, the group was hosted by RC of Bombay Hills South, who continued to show them around the city. The next stop was Marine Drive, one of the most famous and picturesque locations in Mumbai. The group enjoyed a pleasant stroll along the seafront, taking in the refreshing breeze and the scenic view of the Arabian Sea. A highlight of the day was a visit to Rustom’s, an old and renowned establishment known for its ice cream sandwiches. The classic dessert lived up to its reputation, providing the group with a delightful treat as they continued their exploration of the city. Throughout the day, the group had the chance to experience Mumbai’s local transportation systems, including the local trains, metro, and auto-rickshaws. This allowed them to see how the people of Mumbai navigate the bustling city in their daily lives. In the evening, they attended the much-anticipated Ganesh Visarjan, one of Mumbai’s most iconic cultural celebrations. The energy and enthusiasm surrounding the festival were incredible, and the group felt privileged to witness the vibrant procession as the city bid farewell to Lord Ganesha. The Visarjan was filled with joy, devotion, and lively festivities, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who attended. After the event, the group had a hearty dinner with the members of RC of Bombay Hills South. They reflected on the day’s experiences, grateful for the hospitality and camaraderie shared by their hosts. The day concluded on a high note, with everyone parting ways after an unforgettable day in Mumbai.
