The session on Mental Health Awareness, organized by the Rotaract Club of Chandigarh Himalayan in collaboration with Fortis Hospital, Mohali and other collaborating rotaract clubs including the Rotaract Club of Jyoti Nivas College, aimed to raise awareness about mental health and its significance on the account of World Mental Health Day. Dr. Anchal Sharma, Counseling Psychologist at the Fortis Hospital, Mohali, led the session. Her expertise provided valuable insights into the various mental health issues and the best practices to deal with them. The session began with an introduction to the concept of mental health, dispelling myths and addressing common misconceptions. Participants were encouraged to view mental health as a continuum that affects everyone differently. The speaker highlighted the significance of raising awareness about mental health issues within the university community. They emphasized the prevalence of mental health challenges among students and the importance of seeking help. Practical strategies for managing stress and promoting mental well-being were also discussed. These included mindfulness techniques, self-care practices, and the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
