The Rotaract Club of Indiranagar, in collaboration with The 'How Revealing!' Project, hosted a thought-provoking gender sensitization workshop titled ‘Project EQ’. The event took place at the Rotary House of Service and was led by two esteemed speakers: Adv. Urmila Pullat, founder of the How Revealing! Project, and Adv. Rhea Samuel, who oversees media and research for the same initiative. The workshop focused on addressing and challenging deep-rooted gender biases in society, fostering empathy, and promoting inclusivity and respect for all. Through a series of interactive discussions, participants were encouraged to reflect on their own understanding of gender roles and the biases that exist within various social and professional spaces. A variety of engaging activities were designed to illustrate key concepts. One such activity, the ‘Equity Race’, allowed participants to experience firsthand the disparities faced by individuals due to gender and other forms of bias. Another group activity required participants to discuss hypothetical situations, allowing them to brainstorm potential solutions for eradicating discrimination and bias. These exercises not only stimulated critical thinking but also encouraged open dialogue, where participants could share personal experiences and insights. In addition to these activities, the workshop featured a presentation of advertisements that highlighted the ongoing discrimination people face based on gender, age, caste, nationality, race, appearance, and even food habits. These visual examples served as powerful remindersof the biases that persist in everyday life and underscored the importance of addressing these issues. Throughout the session, participants actively expressed their thoughts, ideas, and personal experiences, making the workshop highly interactive and insightful. The session concluded with a collective sense of responsibility toward fostering inclusivity and creating spaces where everyone is treated with dignity, regardless of gender or background, leaving participants with a renewed commitment to building a more inclusive and respectful society.
