The “Vasudha Maitri: L’amitié et l’unité culturelle” project is an international cultural exchange program aimed at fostering friendship and cultural unity between India and Mauritius. Hosted by the Rotaract Club of Utkarsh (3150), this event provided a unique platform for Rotaractors to connect, share experiences, and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of both nations. Held on 26th October 2024 via Google Meet, the event featured a diverse lineup of participating clubs, showcasing the spirit of collaboration. The schedule included two time slots: 7:00 - 8:30 PM (MUT) and 8:30 - 10:00 PM (IST), bringing together clubs such as the Rotaract Club of Jyoti Nivas College (3191), Rotaract Club of Bombay West (3141), Rotaract Club of Payannur Midtown (3204), Rotaract Club of LDCE (3055), Rotaract Club of Chandigarh Midtown (3080), Rotaract Club of Young Visionaries (3011), and Rotaract Club of Gangtok Hills (3240). The event kicked off with engaging self-introductions, allowing participants to share their names, club affiliations, professions, hobbies, and cherished lifelong hobbies, setting a friendly tone for the evening. The Rotaract Club of Vacoas presented captivating slides about their club and the vibrant culture of Mauritius. Following this, each Indian club showcased its unique contributions and cultural significance, highlighting the diversity across states. To infuse some fun, a participant shared clips of the popular cartoon "Shin Chan," leading to a lively session where one participant mimicked the character's voice, bringing laughter and camaraderie to the gathering. The event also served as a valuable networking opportunity, with clubs sharing their letterheads for screenshots, fostering unity and professional connections. Concluding with a virtual group photo, the event encouraged all participants to activate their cameras, creating a memorable snapshot of the collaborative spirit of the evening. Originally scheduled to wrap up at 10 PM, the enthusiasm and engagement extended the event until midnight. The Vasudha Maitri initiative successfully promoted cultural understanding and strengthened bonds between Rotaractors from India and Mauritius, paving the way for future exchanges and collaborations.
