The "Ignite the Minds" initiative is a year-long educational project by the Professional Development Avenue of the Rotaract Club of Mount Carmel College, aimed at empowering students through interactive learning sessions. The October edition took place on October 30, 2024, with the team conducting 45-minute classes for Class 5 students at Government VK Obaidulla Primary School in Shivajinagar. These sessions, attended by both boys and girls, focus on engaging students through a mix of academic and co-curricular activities to foster holistic learning. The focus for this session was on a value education topic: gratitude. To help the students understand this concept, a story with a positive moral was shared. After discussing the story, each student was asked to take a piece of paper and write down one thing they were grateful for. This simple exercise made a meaningful impact. Next, the session covered mathematics. To make it engaging and enjoyable, the students were divided into teams for a game-like activity. A series of word problems involving multiplication, addition, and division were read aloud, and the students’ enthusiasm was clear as they eagerly supported their teams. This session was particularly special, as it was the first time members were invited to participate. The members also enjoyed the event, which helped improve their communication and interpersonal skills. The students responded with enthusiasm, and their curiosity was evident throughout. This experience brought immense joy to the organizers, who look forward to continuing the project in the hope of inspiring creativity, critical thinking, and a love for learning in these young minds. With each session, the team aims to bring out the best in the students, laying the foundation for a brighter future.
