BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Cleanathon was a two-day initiative aimed at environmental sustainability and campus cleanliness. The project began as an independent effort by the Rotaract Club of BMSCE on October 17th and expanded as a collaboration with the Leo Satva Club on October 22nd, under the guidance of the principal. Across both days, a total of 53 participants, around 15 BODS, contributed approximately 10 hours of community service, making a lasting impact on the BMS campus. EVENT DESCRIPTION: The Cleanathon event was a collaborative effort designed to engage volunteers in making a positive environmental impact across the BMS campus. Conducted over two separate days, this initiative aimed to foster environmental responsibility among students and staff through hands-on activities such as litter collection, waste sorting, and environmental awareness sessions. Day 1 was led exclusively by the Rotaract Club of BMSCE. Volunteers gathered to start the cleanup, focusing on identifying key areas that required attention and establishing a systematic approach to litter collection and waste sorting. The Rotaract Club members took the initiative to not only remove visible waste but also educate volunteers on the importance of sustainable practices. This day served as a foundation, setting an example for a cleaner campus and highlighting the importance of individual and collective efforts. Day 2 saw the Rotaract Club joining forces with the Leo Satva Club, bringing a larger team and greater resources to the mission. This collaboration allowed for a more extensive cleanup, as the combined strength of both clubs increased participation and visibility. Administrative support from the college further amplified the impact, with campus leaders acknowledging the volunteers' efforts and encouraging continued participation. Volunteers worked in groups, tackling high-traffic areas and educating others about reducing waste. The presence of both clubs created a spirit of unity and responsibility, inspiring more students to get involved and raising awareness about environmental stewardship. In addition to the physical cleanup, the Cleanathon included educational elements. Volunteers and passersby were informed about waste segregation, recycling, and the environmental impact of littering. This holistic approach not only aimed to clean the campus but also empowered participants and observers with knowledge, inspiring them to adopt sustainable habits in their daily lives. Through these combined efforts, the Cleanathon fostered a cleaner, greener campus and strengthened community bonds, paving the way for future environmental initiatives. SPECIAL HIGHLIGHTS: • Day 1 was an initiative of the Rotaract Club, focused on instilling environmental responsibility. • Day 2 was a collaboration with Leo Satva Club, conducted under the principal’s guidance, allowing for a broader reach and influence. • Certificates of participation were awarded to all volunteers, boosting morale and acknowledgment for community service IMPACT ON ATTENDEES: The two-day Cleanathon inspired attendees to adopt environmentally sustainable practices and fostered a stronger sense of community service. Participants appreciated the hands-on experience of making a tangible impact on campus cleanliness, encouraging more initiatives like this.
