On October 8th, 2024, the Rotaract Club of JP Nagar, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Basaveshwaranagar and final-year resident students from Oxford Dental College, organized "Smile Please," a dental screening and treatment camp at Bannerghatta National Park. This impactful initiative focused on providing essential dental care to the forest rangers and park employees, who dedicate their lives to safeguarding the park's ecosystem. Starting from 9 AM, the camp was set up with various stations for dental screenings, consultations, and educational sessions. The Oxford Dental College residents conducted the screenings, identifying common issues such as cavities and gum disease, while also addressing preventative measures. Attendees received guidance on maintaining good oral health practices, with the goal of fostering long-term dental hygiene awareness. The event witnessed a positive turnout, with numerous park employees availing themselves of the free screenings. Many attendees expressed their gratitude for the care and personalized attention provided, especially given the limited access to regular dental services in their line of work. The collaboration with the dedicated student doctors from Oxford Dental College enriched the camp's impact, allowing for high-quality care and personalized guidance. For Rotaractors, "Smile Please" reinforced a sense of purpose, providing an opportunity to give back and raise health awareness in an often-overlooked community. The event was a success not only in enhancing dental health but also in building meaningful connections with the park community, making a lasting difference in the lives of those who protect our natural heritage.
