An insightful session titled "Unwind and Recharge” was organized by the Rotaract Club of Mount Carmel College, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Jyoti Nivas College. The session was conducted by Ms. Niharika Khemka, who delved into the concept of stress, its impact, and effective strategies to manage it. The speaker began by sharing her personal understanding of stress, emphasizing its subjective nature and variability among individuals. She categorized stress into three types: Acute stress, the most common type, which arises from everyday situations like waking up late or receiving low grades; Episodic stress, which occurs over a prolonged period due to repeated triggers; and Chronic stress, which builds up over time and can stem from issues like sleep deprivation. She highlighted the widespread prevalence of stress among college students and explained its manifestations. Behavioral symptoms such as headaches, excessive sweating, and stress eating, along with cognitive symptoms like memory loss, were discussed in detail. To address these challenges, she proposed several solutions, including relaxation techniques such as yoga, watching movies, and socializing with friends. She emphasized the importance of rethinking one's approach to stress, releasing negative emotions, reducing stress-inducing activities, and reorganizing priorities. The speaker also addressed the issue of sleep disorders, which significantly affect students' mental health and contribute to stress. She encouraged students to adopt healthy habits such as eating nutritious food, avoiding stimulants like coffee and energy drinks, managing time effectively to meet deadlines, and refraining from procrastination. While stress cannot be entirely eliminated, she emphasized that its intensity can be managed, and seeking professional help can be a valuable step in this process. The session was highly interactive, with the speaker addressing participants' questions and offering practical advice. It concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, leaving the attendees with valuable insights and actionable strategies to deal with stress effectively.
