BRIEF DESCRIPTION: “LIGHT IT UP 4.0” was a vibrant and creative diya painting event aimed at fostering creativity and a sense of festive spirit among the children.The event was conducted at Mahila Mandali school, Basavanagudi where students from 3rd to 7th grade. 40 students participated in the event showing their artistic skills with their creative and colourful designs. Additionally the students were taught about the significance of the Deepawali festival and about the cultural significance of celebrating festivals together. EVENT DESCRIPTION: The event began with a session conducted on the significance of the Deepavali festival and the traditional roots inculcated in the celebrations of the festival. Later the importance of lighting a diya(lamp) was highlighted and the students were encouraged to light more diyas and embrace the festive spirit and it was concluded with a talk on celebrating a safe and sustainable festival using the necessary precautionary measures.Later brief instructions were given to the students on the necessary rules to be followed while painting and they were divided into groups of 8.Each group was provided with sustainable eco-friendly diyas(lamps), set of acrylic paints,brushes,mixing plates and water.The students were encouraged to use their own creativity and imagination to paint their diyas.A volunteer was assigned for each group to help out and supervise the kids along with the help of the teachers from the school. The volunteers along with the students painted and had fun interactions and heard stories about what deepavali meant to the kids and how they celebrate it.The event was a great opportunity for everyone to showcase their artistic skills and also fostered a sense of community among everyone present. All the students showcased their vibrant and colourful diyas with intricate patterns and beautiful designs.The event was filled with laughter, enthusiasm and positivity which was later concluded with a photography session with all the students and their creativities. SPECIAL HIGHLIGHTS: The students learnt about the cultural and traditional significance of celebrating the diwali festival. The participants got to showcase their artistic creativities and encouraged team building Environment friendly and sustainable diyas were used promoting a green and safe festival IMPACT ON ATTENDEE: The event played a major role in socializing and encouraged participation as a community building a sense of unity among the children.The participants also learned new skills and techniques by interacting with each other.The act of painting is a calming and meditative activity which also acts as a stress reliever.Hence the students were able to relax from their hectic academic schedules and take part in the event.
