On 24th November 2024, a nation-wide initiative, Project Ayakshma, was launched by the Rotaract Club of Greater Tezpur City, in association with the Rotaract Club of Banashankari and Doctors for a Cause. The project aimed to provide medical care and support to the elderly residing in old age homes across India. It was a simultaneous health camp held across seven cities—Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, and Ahmedabad. In Bangalore, the event was hosted at Sudhama Old Age Home in RR Nagar, where a team of dedicated Rotaractors from Rotaract Club of Banashankari, along with medical professionals from Doctors for a Cause, facilitated a health camp for 20 elderly beneficiaries. The health camp provided free general health check-ups and essential medications, aimed at enhancing the overall well-being of the elderly residents. This initiative was further supported by the active participation of the Rotaract Club of BMSCE and the Rotaract Club of BCWCC. The health camp in Bangalore successfully addressed a variety of health concerns faced by the elderly, with volunteers conducting thorough medical assessments, offering guidance on health management, and distributing essential medications. The event not only focused on medical care but also fostered a sense of community and care among the elderly, providing them with comfort and companionship during their later years. Project Ayakshma was a significant milestone in the collective efforts to support the aging population, ensuring that they receive the necessary medical attention and care. The success of the event in Bangalore was mirrored across the other cities, making it a nationwide success in promoting health and well-being for the elderly. This initiative underscored the importance of collaboration and the dedication of Rotaract Clubs in making a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need.
