The Rotaract Club of SSMRV College in collaboration with Rotaract club of Jyoti Nivas College conducted an enlightening session titled Vedic Wiz, focusing on the principles of Vedic Mathematics. The speaker of the session was Mrs. Lalitha Nagesh. The session commenced with an introduction to the origins of Vedic Mathematics, crediting the father of Vedic wiz. The speaker proceeded to introduce the 16 Sutras (formulas) of Vedic Mathematics, along with their English translations, providing a foundation for understanding this ancient system. The session emphasized the multifaceted benefits of Vedic Maths, which include enhancing confidence, observation skills, thinking abilities, memory power, and decision-making skills. The practical applications were also discussed, highlighting its effectiveness in solving mathematical problems with ease, verifying solutions quickly, and aiding in competitive exams such as Olympiads and entrance tests. To engage the participants, the speaker provided nine initial questions involving operations like square roots, cubes, division, and multiplication to assess their solving speed. Following this, she introduced the basics of Vedic methods, starting with multiplication techniques. For instance, she demonstrated how to multiply numbers such as 236 by 999 using simple Vedic methods, explaining concepts like Antyayordashakepi in Sanskrit to simplify the process using left-hand-side (LHS) and right-hand-side (RHS) calculations. Other techniques taught included Triyagbhyam multiplication, Nikhilam squaring, and Shuddha division. The speaker also covered square roots and cube roots, offering participants practical exercises to reinforce their understanding. The interactive and methodical approach of the session allowed participants to grasp the utility and efficiency of Vedic Mathematics in solving complex problems effortlessly. The session concluded with participants feeling more confident and inspired to explore Vedic Mathematics further, appreciating its relevance in both academic and competitive contexts.
