The project, "Thalassemia: Drops of Hope," aimed to raise awareness about Thalassemia, an inherited blood disorder that significantly impacts individuals' health and quality of life. Through this initiative, we sought to educate participants on the nature of the disease, its symptoms, and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Garima Nirmal, Associate Director of Pediatric Hematology at Apollo Hospitals, led the session with her expertise. She covered: -The pathology of Thalassemia and its effects on hemoglobin production. -Symptoms and health complications associated with the disorder. Genetic counseling, focusing on the risks for offspring when both parents are carriers of Thalassemia minor. The objectives of this project included: -Awareness: To inform participants about Thalassemia, its genetic implications, and the necessity for early intervention. -Engagement: To foster an interactive platform where participants could ask questions and clarify doubts regarding the condition. -Community Impact: To encourage proactive measures within the community to support individuals affected by Thalassemia. Participants engaged directly with Dr. Nirmal, addressing personal concerns and seeking guidance on Thalassemia management. The session concluded with a group picture, symbolizing unity and collective commitment to raising awareness about Thalassemia.
