Ignite the Minds is a year-long educational initiative by the Professional Development Avenue of Rotaract club of Mount Carmel College. It is aimed at empowering students through interactive learning sessions. The 2nd edition for the month of December was conducted on 30th December 2024.Our team conducted 45-minute classes for Class 5 students at Government VK Obaidulla Primary School in Shivajinagar. The sessions are attended by both boys and girls, and our primary focus is on engaging students through a combination of academic and co-curricular activities to foster holistic learning. This session was on three key topics: Varieties of Plants and Trees, Animal Types, and Number system. The session began with an engaging discussion on the diverse world of plants and trees. Through interactive activities, students learned to identify various plant species, their characteristics, and their importance to the ecosystem. To make the session more dynamic, games like "Guess the Plant" and quizzes on tree trivia were organized, sparking excitement and a competitive spirit among the students. Next, the session explored Animal Types, where students were introduced to classifications such as mammals, reptiles, birds, and amphibians. Using visual aids and fun matching games, the children were encouraged to associate animals with their habitats, dietary habits, and unique traits, making the learning process interactive and memorable. Finally, the students were taught some tips on clocks and about the number system. Activities included solving time-related puzzles, matching games, arranging numbers in ascending and descending order. By integrating fun quizzes and games, this session successfully combined education with entertainment, keeping students engaged and motivated. The 2nd December edition of Ignite the Minds not only deepened their knowledge of science and math but also instilled enthusiasm for learning, marking another successful milestone in this year-long journey.
