Introduction In India, every citizen must possess basic knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Timely and effective CPR can save lives during emergencies such as road accidents or sudden cardiac arrests at home. This simple yet life-saving technique can empower individuals to act decisively in critical moments, enhancing survival rates and promoting a safer society. Description The CPR Workshop conducted on December 14, 2024, was a joint initiative by the Rotary Club of Bangalore Koramangala and the Rotaract Club of Koramangala. This impactful event was sponsored by Sun Pharma and Fortis Hospital and was part of a larger initiative by the Cardiology Society of India (CSI) Karnataka Chapter. Workshop Highlights 1. Theoretical Session: * Dr. Keshava R provided an insightful explanation of how the heart functions and the critical role CPR plays in reviving individuals during cardiac emergencies. * Participants were educated on essential precautions and preparatory steps before administering CPR to ensure its effectiveness and patient safety. 2. Practical Demonstration: * The session included a live demonstration of CPR on mannequins, led by Dr. Shyam Prasad. * Advanced technology was employed during the demonstration to evaluate the accuracy and ensure participants mastered the technique. 3. Hands-On Practice and Certification: * All participants were allowed to perform CPR on mannequins under the guidance of experts. * An evaluation process was conducted to assess the accuracy of CPR techniques. Participants who successfully cleared the test received certifications as trained CPR providers. Future Plans Building on the success of this workshop, the Cardiology Society of India (CSI) Karnataka Chapter aims to conduct similar events throughout 2025. The goal is to train at least 1,000 individuals in life-saving CPR techniques, ensuring a wider reach and greater impact.
