Project Suraksha, an initiative under Rotaract District 3191, aimed to raise awareness about Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) among school students in Bengaluru. In collaboration with MAYA and the Rotaract Club of Jyoti Nivas College, we conducted an awareness session at the U and I NGO on February 15, 2025, reaching 34 girl students. The session focused on crucial topics such as recognizing safe and unsafe touch, understanding coping mechanisms, identifying reporting channels, and fostering confidence to speak up. To ensure maximum engagement, we adopted an interactive approach that included case study discussions, skits, and art-based poster creation. From 5:30 PM to 6:40 PM, the session provided a safe and supportive environment where students could openly discuss their concerns and learn vital self-protection skills. The enthusiasm and participation of the students highlighted the importance of such initiatives in creating awareness and building resilience. This project was made possible through the efforts of trained Rotaractors, including members of the Rotaract Club of Jyoti Nivas College, who underwent the “Train the Trainers” session conducted by MAYA on January 27, 2025. Their training played a key role in ensuring an impactful and effective session. Beyond just raising awareness, Project Suraksha strengthened our commitment to community service and education. It also provided an opportunity to introduce non-Rotaractors to the mission and efforts of our club, expanding our reach and impact. Through initiatives like these, we continue to work towards creating a safer, more informed society while fostering a spirit of service and empowerment among both beneficiaries and volunteers.
