The Rotaract Club of Mount Carmel College (RaCMCC) was honored to be a part of Project Suraksha, an initiative by District 3191 in collaboration with MAYA, aimed at raising awareness about child sexual abuse among government school students. The session took place at the Government Urdu Higher Primary School and was designed to educate children on crucial safety topics, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, good touch vs. bad touch, and how to seek help in unsafe situations. The session was conducted by MAYA trainer Anjana, who provided valuable insights in a child-friendly and engaging manner. RaCMCC volunteers actively participated by interacting with the children and assisting in discussions. To ensure a practical understanding of the topics, a case-based group discussion was conducted, where students analyzed real-life scenarios to identify safe and unsafe situations. This interactive approach helped reinforce the importance of awareness, boundaries, and seeking support when needed. The event fostered an open and safe space for children to ask questions and share their thoughts. The volunteers played a crucial role in encouraging dialogue and ensuring that the students felt comfortable discussing sensitive topics. By the end of the session, the children had gained vital knowledge on personal safety, empowerment, and legal protections available to them. RaCMCC is proud to have contributed to this meaningful initiative and remains committed to continuing efforts in spreading awareness and ensuring a safer environment for children through education and community engagement.
