The Rotaract Club of Atria I.T., in collaboration with RI District 3191 and MAYA NGO, conducted an awareness session on 8th of February at 09:30AM under Project Suraksha to educate school children about child sexual abuse. The session was held at Government High School, Kavalbyrasandra, targeting 8th and 9th-grade students, with a total strength of 57 students (31 girls and 26 boys). The session was led by Rotaractors from the Rotaract Club of Atria I.T., along with Anjana, from MAYA NGO. They engaged the students in an interactive discussion about personal safety and recognizing inappropriate situations. The session encouraged students to share their thoughts and experiences while helping them understand how to react to difficult circumstances and seek help when necessary. Through real-life scenarios and open conversations, the students were guided on the importance of setting boundaries and protecting themselves. To ensure better understanding and retention, students participated in a creative activity where they illustrated what they had learned through drawings. This was followed by a feedback-writing session, where they shared their thoughts and reflections on the session. The response from the students was encouraging, as they demonstrated a mature understanding of the sensitive topic and actively engaged in discussions. Overall, the session was a great success, effectively raising awareness about child sexual abuse and empowering students with the knowledge and confidence to handle such situations. The enthusiasm and participation of the students contributed to a smooth and impactful event, highlighting the need for continued awareness initiatives in schools.
