On March 24, 2025, we had an insightful session with Ojaswita Vij, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of BPIT, on building a strong and authentic presence on LinkedIn. This session covered essential strategies for increasing visibility, networking effectively, and securing brand collaborations. A key focus was on consistency, as posting regularly—at least seven days a week—helps in reaching a wider audience. Experimenting with different types of content, staying authentic, and avoiding unnecessary sugarcoating were emphasized as crucial for personal branding. The speaker highlighted the importance of profile optimization, starting with a professional picture (no selfies) and a well-designed banner, preferably featuring your college if you’re a student (Canva can be used for this). Updating sections like skills, volunteering, education, and brand mentions is essential, and adding an email for brand collaborations makes it easier for opportunities to find you. Writing a detailed ‘About’ section that covers your achievements, collaborations, and openness to networking was recommended. Additionally, language proficiency can be added in the ‘Language’ section, and the Skills section can showcase experiences, awards, and endorsements. Networking and referrals were another major takeaway. Connecting with people, getting and giving referrals, and staying engaged with your network increase visibility and opportunities. The session stressed that LinkedIn is about genuine connections—being active, reaching out, and constantly improving your profile will help in personal and professional growth. A Q&A session at the end allowed participants to clarify doubts and gain deeper insights into leveraging LinkedIn effectively.
