On March 8, 2025, the Rotaract Club of Jyoti Nivas College (RID 3191), in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Purbi Chitwan (RID 3292), hosted Daughters of Change, a transformative event aimed at creating a vibrant platform for women to share their stories and experiences. This initiative sought to illuminate the challenges and triumphs that define women's journeys, fostering an environment for meaningful dialogue and reflection. The objectives of this event were to encourage participants to share personal narratives that highlight their strength and resilience in the face of societal challenges; to create a safe space for discussions around women's issues, aiming to break the silence surrounding discrimination and injustice; and to analyze films that depict women's struggles and empowerment, reflecting on their relevance to real-life experiences. The participants shared specific moments that tested their strength as women, fostering mutual understanding and support. They also explored cinematic narratives that address women's struggles, recommending films that empower and inspire. The speaker, Naureen Aziz, an Associate Professor of English and Chief Coordinator of Humanities at Jyoti Nivas College, provided insights into the complexities women face in society. Her expertise enriched the discussion, offering new perspectives on gender issues. The event successfully engaged participants from different Rotaract clubs, igniting critical conversations about gender discrimination and resilience. The inclusion of male perspectives enriched the dialogue, highlighting the importance of allyship in addressing women's issues. Through shared stories and film discussions, participants left with a greater understanding of the challenges women face and the importance of advocacy and support. Daughters of Change was a significant step toward fostering a community that values women's voices and experiences. By sharing stories and exploring representations in cinema, participants not only celebrated women's achievements but also committed to advocating for change and equality in society.
