The Rotaract Club of KLE Law College, in collaboration with KLE Dental College, organized an enlightening and highly relevant legal awareness session titled “Dental Law Essentials: Torts and Beyond.” The event was curated to bridge the gap between the fields of dentistry and law by educating dental professionals and students on essential legal provisions that directly impact their practice. The session was graced by Mr. Mallikarjuniya, a respected former judge, who brought a wealth of legal expertise to the forum. He discussed the legalities surrounding dental practice, including tort law, criminal liability, and professional ethics. His talk covered significant legislative instruments such as the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Dentists Act, providing the audience with practical insights and real-world examples. With over 200 participants, including dental students, interns, and practicing doctors, the session witnessed enthusiastic engagement. Attendees gained clarity on the legal consequences of medical negligence, patient rights, informed consent, and documentation protocols — topics increasingly relevant in today’s medico-legal environment. The event concluded with a vibrant Q&A session, where attendees raised queries about real-life dilemmas they face in their profession.
