BRIEF DESCRIPTION: "Khushiyon Ka Dabba" is a weekly food donation drive aimed at providing leftover food from Paying Guest hostels (PGs) to the underserved communities in Kempegowda Nagar, Majestic Railway Station slum areas. The initiative focuses on reducing food wastage while addressing hunger in the local community. EVENT DESCRIPTION: "Khushiyon Ka Dabba" continued into April 2025 with unwavering dedication, though with a modified schedule due to logistical challenges. The food donation drive was conducted on 4th April and 25th April, while the middle weeks were skipped as the participating PGs did not have leftover food to supply. A significant change in coordination took place this month, with Rtr. Akanksha Priyam stepped in to replace Rtr. Nischay Swamy as one of the Project Chairs. The initiative retained its core focus—repurposing leftover food from PGs to serve the underserved. On 4th April, food was distributed at Kempegowda Nagar and Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple, continuing our presence in the local slum areas. On 25th April, the team took the drive to Majestic Railway Station, which again received a positive response from the public. However, New SMS PG discontinued their participation after 4th April due to internal issues, marking that date as their final contribution. Despite this, the volume and quality of meals remained consistent with previous months, thanks to continued support from the four branches of Second Home PG. SPECIAL HIGHLIGHTS: Adjusted Schedule: The event was held only on 4th and 25th April due to a temporary halt in food availability during the middle weeks. Coordinator Transition: Rtr. Akanksha Priyam took over coordination responsibilities from Rtr. Nischay Swamy. Multiple Locations: Food was distributed at Kempegowda Nagar, Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple, and Majestic Railway Station across the two active weeks. Supplier Exit: New SMS PG exited the initiative after 4th April due to internal concerns. Meal Consistency: Despite fewer drives, the variety and nutritional value of meals remained consistent. IMPACT ON ATTENDEES: The April drives continued to bring meaningful impact, particularly on the two days of distribution. Recipients at both familiar and new locations received meals with gratitude. While the initiative saw a temporary dip in frequency, it continued to serve its purpose—reducing food waste and addressing hunger in public spaces and slum areas. BEHIND THE SCENES: The backend operations involved continued coordination with Second Home PG branches. After 4th April, the team adapted to the exit of New SMS PG, focusing on optimizing the contributions from remaining partners. Meals were hygienically packaged and transported on schedule, with the team ensuring smooth handling even during the reduced weeks. The experience re-emphasized the importance of building reliable partnerships and being adaptable in the face of challenges.
