Planet Infinity 2.0

BMS College of Engineering, Basavanagudi

Description

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Planet Infinity 2.0 was a joint initiative between the Rotaract Club of JEC and the Rotaract Club of BMSCE, created to inspire and delight young minds. The event provided 30 children from Angels Orphanage with the unique opportunity to explore the universe through an immersive show at Nehru Planetarium, combining education, excitement, and care in one thoughtful experience. EVENT DESCRIPTION: The event began on the morning of 8th June 2025, when the children were picked up from Angels Orphanage at 10:30 AM in a BMTC bus arranged by the organizing team. They reached Nehru Planetarium by 11:00 AM, and with the space show scheduled for 11:30 AM, the children joyfully spent time playing in the open recreational space outside the planetarium. Once it was time, the group entered the auditorium to watch “Dawn of the Space”, a visually stunning and mind-expanding show that took them on a journey through stars, planets, galaxies, and the mysteries of outer space. For many of these children, it was their first time witnessing such an experience, and their curiosity and amazement were evident throughout. After the show, the children were treated to burgers and Frooti, carefully arranged to ensure every child had a delicious meal. The volunteers engaged with the kids during this time, making sure they felt comfortable, cared for, and celebrated. The event concluded with the safe return of the children to Angels Orphanage in the same bus, marking the end of a day filled with laughter, learning, and inspiration. Planet Infinity 2.0 was more than just a trip — it was a celebration of imagination and compassion. SPECIAL HIGHLIGHTS: Joint collaboration between RAC JEC and RAC BMSCE Visit to Nehru Planetarium for the “Dawn of the Space” show Engaging pre-show playtime at the planetarium’s recreational area Distribution of burgers and Frooti to all children Smooth and safe transportation arranged via BMTC First-hand exposure to space science for underprivileged kids IMPACT ON ATTENDEES: The event created an unforgettable memory for the children of Angels Orphanage. For many of them, this was their first exposure to astronomy and a real-life experience of a planetarium. The smiles, excitement, and questions they had were proof that Planet Infinity 2.0 made a lasting impression. It also gave volunteers a moment of reflection — reminding them of the power of simple actions in brightening someone’s day and opening their world. BEHIND THE SCENES (INDIVIDUAL EFFORTS): The success of Planet Infinity 2.0 was a result of careful planning and seamless collaboration. The teams from RAC JEC and RAC BMSCE held three coordination meetings to plan out every detail of the event. From arranging the BMTC bus for transportation, to organizing the food and refreshments, every element was handled with precision and enthusiasm. Volunteers were divided into roles to manage logistics, child safety, engagement, and food distribution. Formal permissions, scheduling the planetarium show, and coordinating with the orphanage were all managed ahead of time. Every volunteer involved played a vital part in ensuring that the children had a safe, educational, and joyful experience.
