The Rotaract Club of Mount Carmel College conducted an online awareness event titled “Beyond the Bully” to explore the emotional and psychological roots of bullying and its impact on individuals and communities. The session aimed not just to identify bullying but to understand why it happens, how it affects both the bullied and the bully, and how we can respond with empathy and action. The event was a collaboration between RACMCC and Rotaract Club of Bengaluru Avyanna. It was graced by two amazing speakers Dr. Devanshi, Editor-in-Chief at PirogovGA, known for her work on world peace, wars, and conflict resolution; and Dr. Ifteshaam, a researcher focused on the influence of stress and anxiety on the social behavior of medical students. The event featured a panel discussion and a Q&A segment, encouraging students to reflect, ask questions, and engage deeply with the topic. Questions explored personal experiences, reasons behind bullying, its long-term impact on mental health, and how bystanders can play a role in creating change. The main takeaway from the event was that if you see any of your friend or anyone facing this type of situation speak up for that person, motivate them and most importantly gift them a good listener. Because at the end of the day it is the art of empathy which makes us a human and different from others. With active 25 student participation and valuable expert insights, Beyond the Bully created a safe and meaningful space for dialogue, reflection, and the beginning of change.
