Intern with Rotaract- Phase 2

Atria Institute of Technology

Description

Phase Two of the Intern with Rotaract initiative was conducted from March to June 2025 by the Rotaract Club of Atria Institute of Technology in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science & Engineering. Building upon the momentum of Phase One, this phase focused on project-based learning, technical skill development, and real-world impact. The internship offered a blend of structured content, guided mini projects, and independent development. Students were introduced to a full web development stack including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Node.js, Express.js, and MySQL. Weekly assignments, quizzes, and workshops enabled students to gradually apply these technologies toward building functional web applications. One of the key components of this phase was the Computer Graphics mini project using OpenGL in C. Students worked in small teams to create animations on 10th standard Physics topics such as reflection, refraction, electric circuits, and magnetism. These animations were designed to be used as educational aids in government schools, helping underprivileged children understand scientific concepts visually. This segment of the internship combined technical learning with social contribution, giving students an opportunity to see how their work can create real educational impact. The internship concluded with a Final Project Expo on 13th June 2025. Students presented their final full-stack projects before faculty members and peers. Projects were evaluated on four main criteria: frontend design, backend functionality, clarity of presentation, and subject knowledge. The best project award was given to the Vehicle Management System for its strong execution and practical relevance. The runner-up was the Disaster Aid Website, recognized for its thoughtful features and public utility. The Best Performer Award was also presented to the student who consistently demonstrated initiative, timely submissions, and quality work throughout the internship. Intern with Rotaract – Phase Two successfully merged academic coursework with practical application and social purpose. It enabled students to experience the full cycle of software development while also cultivating skills in teamwork, communication, and community engagement. The program demonstrated how technical education, when structured with intent, can lead to outcomes that are both professionally valuable and socially meaningful.
