Orphanage Visit

The board members along with members left via autos and vehicles to St. Charles. We entered the orphanage at 1:45pm. We took the permission of the sister before giving our thanks and donations to the orphanage. The children were very jovial and welcomed all of us. We began with familiarizing ourselves to the children and then played games like - passing the pass, dancing, singing and much more. Once the children became comfortable we all divided ourselves and sloke to the children and elders, which was very insightful and fun. Furthermore, we distributed ice cream to which all seemed excited. They sang a song for us before we left as a show of gratitude. We left the place at 3:00pm

UNHRC - Extrajudicial Killings: The UNHRC committee centered its discussions on the pervasive issue of extrajudicial killings, tracing a historical timeline from the Rowlatt Act in pre-independence India to the recent George Floyd incident. Delegates were tasked with exploring the root causes, social implications, and potential solutions to curb these unlawful acts. Notable cases, such as George Floyd and Osama Bin Laden, served as reference points for comprehensive deliberations. ECOSOC - Economic and Social Council: ECOSOC, established as a principal organ of the UN, underwent scrutiny regarding its functions and powers. Delegates engaged in discussions on policy dialogue, sustainable development, and the council's pivotal role in the post-2015 development agenda. With a mandate to address economic, social, cultural, educational, and health-related topics, ECOSOC became a focal point for delegates to contribute to the global discourse on pressing issues. UNSC - Russia-Ukraine Conflict: The UNSC committee, as one of the UN's six principal organs, held a critical role in maintaining international peace and security. The primary agenda revolved around the ongoing Russia-Ukraine Conflict, with a call to delve into the historical background, tensions, and recent events shaping this geopolitical crisis. Delegates in this committee were tasked with proposing solutions, sanctions, or interventions to address the complex dynamics of the conflict. IPC - International Press Corps: This committee played a crucial role in reporting, analyzing, and disseminating information about the proceedings of the other committees. The IPC offered a unique perspective, contributing to the transparency and comprehensive understanding of the discussions and decisions made in the various committees. In essence, ROTAMUN served as a platform for diverse committees to engage in critical discussions, analyze global issues, and contribute to potential solutions, fostering a rich environment for diplomatic dialogue and international cooperation.

Icebreakers

The icebreaker event for the Rotaract club began with an informative session where new members were briefed on the mandatory hours required to earn their credits and the essential rules they needed to follow as part of the club's activities. This session aimed to set clear expectations for their involvement in the club. Following the introduction, the board members of the Rotaract club were introduced, providing new members with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the core team. The icebreaker activities included two engaging games: 1. I Spy: This game was chosen to build enthusiasm, agility and make the members experience the fun aspect of the Rotaract club. "I Spy" allowed participants to take turns to describe characteristics of other members within the room, this not only encouraged interaction and participation but also created a lively and competitive atmosphere among the members. 2. Group Task Activity: In this second game, members were divided into groups of five. Each group was given a chit with a fun task to perform, and they had 10 minutes to prepare for it. Once prepared, each group had a two-minute stage time to perform their task. This activity aimed to encourage interaction, cooperation, and team-work among members besides infusing an element of fun into the experience. It led to laughter, creativity, and allowed participants to bond over the shared challenge. Overall, the icebreaker event successfully achieved multiple objectives such as breaking the ice among new members, fostering interaction and cooperation, introducing them to club leadership, and emphasizing and showcasing the balance between fun and discipline the Rotaract club entails.
