Akshaya Patra
The “AKSHAYA PATRA” volunteering event at Vaikunta Hills ISKCON was an enriching and impactful experience for the members of the Rotaract Club of RNSIT. The Akshaya Patra Foundation, known for its mission to eliminate hunger and promote education, runs one of the largest mid-day meal programs in India. By providing nutritious meals to millions of schoolchildren, it aims to improve attendance, retention, and the overall well-being of children across the country.
The Rotaract Club's involvement at Vaikunta Hills ISKCON focused on supporting the foundation's efforts to prepare and distribute meals. The volunteers actively participated in various stages of the process, from kitchen assistance, packing meals, and organizing distribution efforts, to ensuring the smooth flow of operations. They also interacted with the team members at ISKCON, learning about the logistics and scale of operations involved in feeding thousands of children daily.
In addition to the hands-on service, the event also provided Rotaract members with a deeper understanding of the Akshaya Patra Foundation’s impact. The foundation not only provides meals but also strives to promote health, nutrition, and education, creating a more sustainable future for children who otherwise might not have access to regular meals.
This volunteer activity allowed the Rotaract members to experience the joy of giving back to the community while also aligning with the values of service, compassion, and social change that the Rotaract movement upholds. The event also fostered a strong sense of teamwork and solidarity among the volunteers, further strengthening the bond between members while creating a lasting impact on the lives of children in need.
