Free Health Checkup Camp

On the 11th of August 2024, the Rotaract Club of Bangalore Orchards, in collaboration with Muthoot Snehasraya, Sparsh hospitals, People Tree Hospitals and Olympus Hospitals organized a Free Blood Checkup Camp at Rotary Orchards Public School, Vasanthnagar, Bangalore. The event aimed to provide free health screenings for a range of conditions including heart diseases, diabetes, cancer, and more. Muthoot Snehasraya facilitated the free distribution of glasses to participants. The event was graced by the presence of Rizwan Arshad, MLA of Shivajinagar, and Raghu Ramakrishna, President of Vasanthnagar, who were the Guests of Honor. A total of 480 individuals registered for the event, including community members from various age groups. The Free Blood Checkup Camp was marked by several significant activities and outcomes. The event provided a comprehensive range of health screenings and consultations to the community. A total of 440 participants underwent diabetic BP/sugar tests, while 128 individuals received blood tests, including assessments for cholesterol, creatinine, hepatitis, and sugar levels. In addition, 287 participants benefited from general health check-ups, 76 consulted with orthopaedic specialists, 46 received OBG consultations, and 28 underwent ECG tests. The event also catered to surgical consultations, with 45 individuals seeking advice for conditions such as piles, hernia, and appendix-related issues. Eye care was a major focus of the camp, with 389 participants undergoing eye screenings. Out of these, 8 were identified for cataract surgery, and 161 spectacles were distributed free of charge, greatly enhancing the vision care aspect of the event. In terms of medication, the event organizers ensured that medicines worth INR 10,000 were distributed to participants, addressing various health needs. The presence of distinguished guests added to the significance of the event. Rizwan Arshad, MLA of Shivajinagar, commended the Rotaract Club and Muthoot Snehasraya for their efforts in organizing such a vital health initiative. He emphasized the importance of regular health checkups and praised the community's active participation. Raghu Ramakrishna, President of Vasanthnagar, also highlighted the value of community-driven health initiatives and expressed his gratitude to all the volunteers and medical professionals who contributed to the event's success. The Free Blood Checkup Camp successfully provided essential health screenings and consultations to the local community. The event saw significant participation, with 480 individuals receiving various health services. The distribution of spectacles and medicines added considerable value to the event, ensuring that participants left with the tools necessary to manage their health. A special note of gratitude goes to RVCE, whose support was instrumental in the successful collaboration for this event. Their involvement not only bolstered the event’s resources but also ensured a higher level of community outreach and participation. The leadership of Rtr. Planet Voices Symposium – Inspiring Youth For Climate Advocacy

The Planet Voices Symposium was held on 16th November 2024 at St. Joseph’s School Auditorium, Bangalore, as part of the celebrations for World Interact Week. Organized by Rotary Bangalore Orchards and supported by the Rotaract Club of Bangalore Orchards, the symposium aimed to empower youth in climate advocacy and environmental stewardship. With an impressive attendance of 555 interactors from schools across Bangalore, the event served as a platform to educate, inspire, and mobilize the next generation of changemakers. The highlight of the event was Rotary Bangalore Orchards’ flagship project: the ambitious initiative to revive 1,000 acres of barren and dry land under the leadership of Rtn. Neil Joseph. This visionary project, which seeks to transform desolate land into green, sustainable spaces, was a key focal point of the discussions. Participants were introduced to the significance of this initiative as a practical demonstration of addressing climate change through reforestation and land rehabilitation. Rtn. Neil Joseph’s efforts underscored the importance of community-driven action and long-term commitment to sustainability, serving as a powerful example of how environmental challenges can be met with innovative solutions and collective effort. The symposium’s theme, “Climate Change and Its Impact on Karnataka,” resonated strongly with participants, shedding light on the region's unique environmental challenges. The sessions explored actionable strategies to address these challenges and provided young minds with tools to make a difference. The opening remarks by Pravin Hungund, Indian Administrative Fellow, RDPR, Government of Karnataka, and President of Rotary Bengaluru Harmony, emphasized the vital role of youth in addressing the climate crisis. His speech set the stage for a day filled with insightful discussions and collaborative learning. The event featured prominent speakers, including Marwan Abubaker, Co-founder of Hasiru Dala Innovations, who shared expertise on waste management as a tool for building climate resilience, and Archana Tripathi, CEO of Saahas, who spoke about adopting sustainable practices for everyday living. S.S. Iyengar, a renowned scientist, captivated the audience with an engaging session on the science of climate change and the transformative power of youth in leading environmental reforms. Together, these sessions empowered participants with knowledge and inspired action, all while linking back to Rotary Bangalore Orchards’ transformative project. Interactive breakout sessions allowed participants to brainstorm solutions and explore projects inspired by the Rotary initiative to rejuvenate barren land. These discussions not only educated students on the science and impact of climate change but also encouraged them to think critically about their own communities’ environmental needs. The event agenda included workshops, keynote addresses, and collaborative activities, ensuring participants left with a deeper understanding of climate issues and practical solutions. Certificates were distributed to acknowledge the dedication of the young leaders, reinforcing their commitment to environmental advocacy. The Planet Voices Symposium was a resounding success, inspiring youth to take an active role in addressing environmental challenges. The 1,000-acre land development project, championed by Rtn. Neil Joseph, stood as a shining example of Rotary Bangalore Orchards’ commitment to sustainable practices. This initiative not only captured the imagination of the participants but also demonstrated the impact of large-scale environmental action in mitigating climate change. Special recognition was given to the Interact Club of Bangalore Palmville, the concept initiators, and the supporting Rotary Clubs, including Bangalore South Parade, IT Corridor, Highgrounds, Harmony, and Koramangala, for their invaluable contributions to the event. The Planet Voices Symposium celebrated World Interact Week while highlighting Rotary Bangalore Orchards' exceptional efforts in sustainability and reforestation. It successfully empowered 555 interactors to think globally and act locally, leaving an enduring legacy of environmental consciousness. Independence Day Celebrations

On 15th August, 2024, the Rotaract Club of Bangalore Orchards, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Bangalore Orchards, continued its flagship project of celebrating Independence Day at the Government School. This initiative, which was launched last year, aimed at instilling patriotism and providing joy to the students through various engaging activities and distribution of snacks. The motive of the event was to celebrate the 78th Independence Day with school children in an enriching and engaging manner, strengthen the relationship between the Rotaract Club and the local school community and to inspire the young generation with the values of freedom and national pride. The Independence Day celebrations commenced at 9:00 AM with great enthusiasm from both the students and the members of the Rotaract Club. The program began with the hoisting of the Indian national flag, which was followed by cultural performances that reflected the rich diversity and history of the nation. The Rotaract Club, playing a pivotal role in organizing the event, ensured that the children were not only entertained but also educated on the significance of Independence Day.A key aspect of the celebration was the distribution of snacks to the participating children. The Rotaract Club of Bangalore Orchards distributed snacks to over 200 students, ensuring that each child who took part in the celebrations left with a sense of happiness and fulfillment. The snack distribution was a gesture of goodwill, reinforcing the Club's dedication to community service. The event was a resounding success. The school authorities expressed their deep gratitude for the Rotaract Club's efforts in making the day memorable for the students. Kalaparva

On the vibrant occasion of honoring India’s cultural legacy, Kalaparva was organized by the Itihasa Foundation, partly sponsored by Rotary Bangalore and the Rotaract Club of Bangalore Orchards. Held on 16th and 17th November 2024 at Pathi Sabhangana, this unique event aimed to celebrate and revive the rich cultural traditions and age-old heritage of our motherland. The event brought together enthusiasts, scholars, and performers in a grand celebration of India’s artistic and cultural vibrancy. The objective of Kalaparva was not only to encourage the preservation of traditional art forms but also to instill a sense of pride and connection to our roots among younger generations. By creating an interactive platform for people to engage with India’s traditions, the event sought to bridge the gap between modernity and heritage, ensuring that cultural practices remain a vital part of our identity. Blood Donation Camp

On the 23rd of November 2024, the Rotaract Club of Bangalore Orchards, in collaboration with HMS Unani Medical College & Hospital and the Lions Blood Bank, organized a highly impactful blood donation camp. The event took place at the HMS Unani Medical College & Hospital, located in Sadashivanagar, Tumkur, with the noble aim of encouraging voluntary blood donation and saving lives. The camp was organized under the theme, "He who saves a life is as if he has given life to all humanity." This powerful message resonated with all participants and emphasized the critical role of blood donation in saving lives. The Rotaract Club played a vital role in promoting the event through its network, ensuring enthusiastic participation from students, staff, and the local community. The event began with an inauguration ceremony attended by faculty members, community leaders, and representatives from Lions Blood Bank and Rotaract Bangalore Orchards. As part of the celebrations, we also engaged with the students through interactive sessions, encouraging them to express their thoughts on what Republic Day means to them.
