Her Health, Her Power:a Menstrual Hygiene Workshop

On July 20th, 2024, the Community Service Avenue of Mount Carmel Rotaract Club organized an event titled "Her Health Her Power".The primary goal was to educate young girls about menstruation, promoting a healthy understanding and breaking the stigma associated with it. The event targeted girls aged 8-12, providing them with essential knowledge about menstrual health, hygiene, and self-care. Our objective of the Project was to provide accurate information about the menstrual cycle and associated bodily changes, to teach proper menstrual hygiene, and to encourage open discussions about menstruation, helping to reduce the stigma around it. The event kicked off with an icebreaker session designed to help girls feel more at ease by having them introduce themselves. We began with a discussion on general health and hygiene to gauge what the kids already knew, leading to the question "How do you know when you have grown up?" We then proceeded to explain menstruation, using stories and videos to facilitate their understanding. We discussed the process, why it occurs, and its significance for girls' health. Additionally, we covered the importance of practicing proper hygiene and the bodily changes that occur with the onset of menstruation. A few girls had already started with their menstruation who also provided as guiding figures for the younger girls. We also extended our discussion to good touch and bad touch and what to do in case they feel insecure. At the end of the event, we distributed sanitary pads to the girls' home, and many of the girls shared that they felt more confident and knowledgeable. It's important to continue offering support and resources to young girls as they manage their menstrual health, as this will greatly improve the program's effectiveness.

Time Titans: Manage And Conquer

On February 15, 2025, the Professional Development team of the Rotaract Club of Mount Carmel College hosted an insightful event titled *"Time Titans"* via Google Meet. The session was led by Joshua Francis, an expert in time management. The main focus of the event was the 8+8+8 rule, a powerful time management framework that promotes a balanced lifestyle. This method divides the day into three parts: 8 hours of hard work, 8 hours of sleep, and 8 hours for personal well-being. The 8 hours of work aim to focus on professional tasks and career progression, ensuring productivity. The 8 hours of sleep are crucial for physical and mental rejuvenation, fostering enhanced performance. The final 8 hours should be dedicated to the *3Fs, 3Hs, & 3Ss*, which serve to nurture a holistic lifestyle. The *3Fs*—family, friends, and faith—help strengthen emotional bonds and provide a solid support system. The *3Hs*—health, hygiene, and hobby—are important for physical wellness and personal growth. Lastly, the *3Ss*—soul, service, and smile—nurture spiritual well-being and promote acts of kindness. Joshua emphasized that combating burnout requires understanding one's purpose. Passion-driven activities are key to maintaining excitement and fulfillment. A conscious effort to align personal passions with daily tasks can promote long-term satisfaction. In conclusion, achieving balanced success is not only about professional milestones but also about nurturing mental and physical health. Evaluating success involves assessing whether one's accomplishments lead to genuine fulfillment, and planning effectively for long-term goals. The event was very helpful and insightful to everyone looking to make a valuable change in their lifestyle.

Wings Of Care Phase 3

WINGS OF CARE is a groundbreaking international community service collaboration between our club and our twin club, the Rotaract Club of Alumni of University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. This project aims to empower underprivileged children by collecting funds and storybooks, donating essential stationery and books to a local NGO, and fostering awareness about the importance of education and reading. We are thrilled to announce that Phase 3 of the project has been successfully completed. The kids inaugurated the mini library set up at Spandana NGO (CARE & SAHAYA), and we organized fun activities, including a Simon Says game as an icebreaker. We emphasized the importance of books beyond academic textbooks, highlighting how they foster creativity, provide new perspectives, promote understanding, and enhance vocabulary. The kids enthusiastically participated in reading sessions, discovering new words, and seeking answers to their queries. We concluded the event with refreshments and a group photo. As we celebrate the success of all three phases, we are overwhelmed by the response and contributions we received. Our mini library at Spandana NGO (CARE & SAHAYA) has become a hub for learning and growth, thanks to the collective efforts of our co-ordinator Manohar sir our volunteers, faculty, partner institutions, and twin club. We are proud of the lasting impact we've created and look forward to continuing this journey, inspiring a love for learning and promoting literacy among underprivileged children

Some of the highlights included: * Members recalling the funniest moments at Rotaract events. * Creative and hilarious excuses used to skip meetings. * Imagining their Rotaract journey as a movie and coming up with quirky titles. * Speculating who would get lost on the way to an event. * Assigning humorous “Most Likely To” awards to fellow Rotaractors. This session sparked heartfelt laughter and reinforced the camaraderie among members. Round 2: Guess the Childhood Picture A fun and interactive segment where members had to guess council members from their childhood pictures. Artshala

The Rotaract Club of Mount Carmel College had the privilege of hosting ArtShala in collaboration with ConnectFor at Government Urdu Higher Primary School that RaCMCC has been actively working with. This initiative aimed to transform the school's walls into vibrant and educational murals, making the learning environment more engaging for students. A week before ArtShala, volunteers from RaCMCC assisted artists in sketching murals on the school walls. These sketches were designed to be syllabus-oriented, ensuring that the artwork would serve as a visual aid in the students' education.RaCMCC volunteers meticulously planned and organized the painting process by sorting and mixing the paints according to the required color schemes at the paint station. The event saw an overwhelming participation of volunteers from various clubs, each contributing their creativity and enthusiasm to the project. Volunteers were assigned specific walls to paint, ensuring an organized and efficient execution. The collaborative effort led to beautifully painted walls featuring artistic representations of key subjects like science, mathematics, history, and literature. Through ArtShala, RaCMCC not only brought color to the school's walls but also made a lasting impact on the students' learning experience. Project Vikasini

Project Vikasini was a joint initiative by the Rotaract Clubs of Mount Carmel College, Medikardia, and Bangalore United, in association with Ashirwad Centre and Sneha Mahila Sangha. Organized as a Women’s Day celebration, the event took place on 16th March for the resilient women of Khader Sherief Garden — one of the oldest slums in Bangalore. The event focused on empowering widows and married women from various walks of life, including domestic workers, garment helpers, cleaners, petty shopkeepers, and office staff. Through a series of interactive and thought-provoking skits, trained professionals led sessions addressing crucial topics such as domestic violence, women’s rights, and societal challenges faced by women. Members from RAC Medikardia also conducted an informative session on menstrual hygiene, menopause, and basic first aid practices essential in daily life. The celebration began on a graceful note with an inaugural dance performance by a member of RAC MCC, setting a warm and spirited tone for the day. The event venue and lunch were generously sponsored by the Ashirwad Centre. To add joy and bonding, members of RAC MCC and RAC Bangalore United organized fun-filled games like Pictionary, “Put the Bindi in the Right Spot,” and many more fun interactive games. The room resonated with laughter, energy, and sisterhood throughout the games. Winners were awarded small gifts to recognize their spirit and encourage continued participation. Project Vikasini beautifully blended awareness with celebration, creating a safe space for women to learn, express, and enjoy themselves—a true tribute to their strength and spirit.
